High Expansion Foam System

Product Category:Fire Fighting System

The high expansion foam fire extinguishing system is an integral component of shipboard fixed fire extinguishing systems, with a foam expansion ratio typically exceeding 200:1 (ranging from 500:1 to 1000:1). High expansion foam rapidly fills the entire protected enclosure with a large volume of foam, achieving total flooding fire suppression**.

This system is primarily designed and approved in accordance with IMO MSC.1/Circ.1384 — Guidelines for Testing and Approval of Fixed High Expansion Foam Fire Extinguishing Systems.

    System Features and Advantages

Efficient Total Flooding Suppression: High expansion foam rapidly fills the entire enclosure with complete coverage and no dead zones, making it ideal for engine rooms and pump rooms with complex layouts.

High Foam Generation Efficiency: The foam generator is installed inside the protected enclosure, discharging foam directly upon generation and eliminating long-distance piping transport. This minimizes foam breakdown and ensures high delivery efficiency.

Effective in High-Temperature Smoke Environments: Specifically tested and validated, the system generates foam effectively under high-temperature, smoke-laden internal air conditions produced by fires.

Extremely Low Water Consumption: Compared with water sprinkler and low expansion foam systems, high expansion foam systems substantially reduce water demand, resulting in minimal water damage.

High Expansion Ratio: With an expansion ratio of 500:1 to 1000:1, the system delivers a substantial foam volume.

Personnel Safety: High expansion foam is non-toxic and non-hazardous. It does not consume oxygen within the enclosure and generates no toxic fumes.

Simple and Reliable Operation: The system relies primarily on manual release, preventing accidental activation.
